THE Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) has projected a 35 per cent per annum growth in exports during the next five years to take the total export figure to Rs 62,000 crore from Rs 17,000 crore now.

According to the Pharmexcil Chairman, Mr D.B. Mody, the pharma industry was well developed with strong manufacturing base, skilled scientific manpower and R&D capabilities. After the US, India is the only country to have the highest number of USFDA approved manufacturing facilities across the globe.

He was addressing presspersons to announce the details of the two-day international Pharma and Health Conference of India, Africa, ASEAN and GCC, which begins here on Thursday. The conference is being jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Pharmexcil.
