Dredging of Kollam-Kottapuram waterway to go on

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Union Minister for Shipping and Transport, Mr T.R. Baalu, has said that dredging of the Kollam-Kottapuram National Waterway-3 will continue.

The Minister said in reply to a question by Mr P. Rajendran MP, during question hour in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Dredging has been completed on the stretch between Kochi and Thakazhi Jetty as well as along the Udyogamandal and Champakkara canals. Capital dredging is also in progress in the Kochi-Kottapuram section.

Arrangements have been made for the completion of dredging work in the 50-km stretch between Kollam and Thakazhi Jetty stretch. The Inland Waterways Authority of India has already deployed one of its dredgers in the Edapallykottah-Kollam stretch.
