Rs 130-cr waste heat recovery power plant coming up in Goa

THE Goa Chief Minister, Mr Pratapsingh Rane, on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the proposed Rs 130-crore 30-MW waste heat recovery power plant being set up by Goa Energy Private Ltd, a Videocon group company, in association with Sesa Goa, at Navelim in north Goa.
The project will use heat available in waste gases generated during operations of Sesa Goa's coke oven facilities and pig iron facilities to produce the superheated steam capable of generating 30 MW power. The project will be entitled to carbon credits under the Kyoto protocol.
Mr Rane stressed on the need to promote private sector investment and participation in power sector, which, he said, will help to provide high quality and flawless power supply in the State. He complimented Sesa Goa and the Videocon group company for setting up am eco-friendly power plant. Such additional power generated will help in setting up more industries in the State.
Mr S.D. Kulkarni, Chairman, Sesa Goa Ltd, Mr L.A. Dean, Managing Director, Sesa Goa, Mr Pradeep Doot, President of Videocon Group, and several Cabinet Ministers were also present.
