Software AccelTree develops framework for mobile applications Our Bureau
Pune , Nov. 23 PUNE-BASED AccelTree Software Pvt. Ltd has developed a framework for building and deploying mobile enterprise application on simple mobile handsets. Mr Vivek Manninge, Chief Executive Officer of AccelTree, whose innovation has been short-listed for the IT Innovation Awards 2005 by Nasscom, said the framework would reduce the time to build and modify mobile applications. It would provide better performance and a low-cost operating platform which would run on many server environments including Linux. He said that this innovation wants to address the problems faced by field workers, especially in the rural areas, who do not have the necessary information and take time to access the same. With this application on the mobile handset, he noted that the user, after authentication, is provided a queue of collection cases, and relevant summaries could be downloaded on the mobile to enable the user take necessary action even when not `online'. He said the user could also view previous payment history, and other previous interaction as well, including correspondence. He can also make a request to send a pre-formatted letter, e-mail or SMS (done centrally) and could also enter a specific note for the record. He added that Nokia would be the company's partner; according to Mr Manninge, the telecom service provider should have GPRS or a CDMA service where the provider either hosts the server or provides a link to the server. He also said that the company had come up with this innovation as it had hit a stumbling block with its e-governance interface. Looking ahead, Mr Manninge said currently there are about 23 personnel in the development centre at Pune and the company is looking at having teams in Mumbai and New Delhi. "The company is targeting the Indian customer who is highly cost-conscious and should hit the market by April next year."
