Oceanography Institute inks pact with Pancham Aquaculture

THE National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), the Goa-based ocean research institute which has aquatic resource assessment and environment management expertise, has signed on Friday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pancham Aquaculture Farms Ltd (Pancham), Mumbai, for technological development in coastal aquaculture farming.

The MoU was meant for development of technologies and products for sustainable coastal aquaculture and their health management.

This MoU will enable Pancham to identify issues affecting sustainability in coastal aquaculture. The NIO with its vast experience in aquatic resource assessment and environmental management would provide scientific, technical and aquatic health solutions for the sustainable coastal aquaculture and disease management, said Dr Satish Shetye, Director, NIO.Pancham is one of the leading aquaculture farming joint sector company under the Maharashtra Government. Mr Ajit Sinha Patil, Chief Technical Officer, Pancham, Mumbai, signed the MoU on behalf of the company.

Both the partners would collaborate in the area of research programme, hold seminars and workshops, work towards skill enhancement training programmes as per the terms of agreement.
