AirTel rings in 10 years in Delhi today

CELLULAR service provider AirTel is all set to complete 10 years of operation in Delhi on November 14.

"As the first mobile service provider in the heart of the country, AirTel, has always been concerned about customer requirements. Last 10 years was witness to the evolution of telecom technology and AirTel has been the frontrunner in leading this industry to the current level - where mobile is now a necessity and not a luxury anymore," an AirTel release said here.

It was the first cellular operator to expand its network with the installation of the a third Mobile Switching Centre, and also the first to launch the Intelligent Network Platform and introduce Enhanced Full Rate Coding, it said.

"With the expansion of the network, a host of value-added services and features such as the synchronous digital hierarchy - to ensure maximum reliability even in case of adverse weather conditions - and the CCS 7 signalling (to ensure quicker call completion) were introduced for the benefit of the customers," it added.
