Mangalore varsity to host workshop on yoga therapy

MANGALORE University will conduct an international workshop on `Thermal imaging system in yoga therapy' here on November 13.

Addressing newspersons here, Prof B. Thimme Gowda, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University, said the workshop is being sponsored by the Union Department of Science and Technology under the Indo-Russian Long-Term Programme (ILTP). The Department of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences of the university is organising the event here.

Dr K. Krishna Bhat, Principal Investigator of ILTP project, said that the university has imported a thermal imaging instrument from Russia for research.

Stating that the instrument can detect any radiation change in the human body without touching the person, he said,

"This technology will be used in yoga therapy and the treatment of prevalent chronic diseases." Prof Yury Gulyaev, Director of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Russia, will inaugurate the workshop.
