THE Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has directed officials to spruce up infrastructure facilities at Visakhapatnam in connection with the proposed three-day President's Naval Fleet Review scheduled to begin on February 12 next year.

The event is being held at Visakhapatnam for the first time after Independence. About six lakh people, apart from 500-odd outstation invitees and a galaxy of VVIPs, including the Vice-President, the Prime Minister and the Chairperson of National Advisory Council, will witness the celebrations. The Chief Minister has agreed to appoint a joint committee of the State administration headed by the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to visit Visakhapatnam and attend to the issues with the coordination of the Naval officials, according to an official press release.
