Spot rubber prices steady

SPOT rubber prices were steady on Friday amidst weak supply. According to sources, main marketing centres continued to suffer from acute shortage of the raw material.

Covering groups were reported to be active in the trading floors, while the buyers from the general rubber goods sector and North Indian sector sidelined the market. Sheet rubber closed at Rs 65.50 a kg as on Thursday.

November contract on NMCE was quoted at Rs 66.47 (Rs 65.48), December at Rs 64.35 (Rs 63.90), January at Rs 64.70 (Rs 64.20) and February at Rs 64.65 (Rs 64.10) per kg for RSS 4.

The November contract for RSS 4 was traded at Rs 66.31 against Rs 65.26 a kg in MCX.

Spot rates a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 65.50 (65.50); RSS-5: Rs 63.00 (Rs 63.00); ungraded: Rs 61.00 (Rs 61.00); ISNR 20: Rs 63.00 (Rs 63.00) and latex 60%: Rs 42.50 (Rs 42.50).
