TCL India Holdings Pvt Ltd, the 100-per cent subsidiary of the Chinese multinational TCL, plans to set up its South Asia manufacturing hub in India, according to Mr A. Gopala Krishna, Senior Vice-President, TCL India Holdings Pvt Ltd.

He said that the company has yet to arrive at a decision about the exact location and has short-listed sites in Noida, Pune, and some places in the South.

This manufacturing facility will service markets both within the country and in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The company will start manufacturing in its own facility by June 2006, he said. Currently, the company has outsourced its production to nine facilities in India.

TCL, which entered the Indian market in September 2004, is targeting a sales turnover of about Rs 500 crore this year.

Mr Gopala Krishna said that from September to December 2004 the turnover was Rs 48 crore. The company, in a two-year time frame, will be spending about Rs 100 crore on advertising.
