REC pays Rs 234.5 cr to Govt

NEW DELHI: The Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd has registered its highest-ever profit before tax of Rs 1,038 crore for fiscal 2004-05. The company paid the Centre a total dividend of Rs 234.50 crore, including the Rs 58-crore interim dividend paid earlier.

The company's Chairman, Mr A.K. Lakhina, handed over the dividend cheque to the Minister for Power, Mr P.M. Sayeed.
