Vizag Steel Plant bags CII energy excellence award

VIZAG Steel Plant belonging to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), a public sector company, has bagged the Confederation of Indian Industry's `National Award for Excellence in Energy Management' for the year 2005.

According to an RINL press release, the award was conferred after a recent CII meeting in Chennai. The plant was adjudged an `Excellent Energy Efficient Unit for the 6th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management', the release stated.

"The award was conferred for company-wide initiatives taken for the conservation and efficient use of energy. The energy consumption of the plant has been consistently brought down over the years through a focused approach and is the lowest in the country," the release said.
