Kochi , Oct.6

IBS Software Services, a Thiruvananthapuram-based software developer for the travel industry, has announced that Canadian low-cost airline WestJet will implement its (IBS') `aiRES' software for reservation, scheduling and check-in systems.

WestJet is the first customer for aiRES (formerly iRes), which IBS developed in association with Cendant Travel Distribution Services (TDS). The airline will replace its current systems with aiRES and also be a co-development partner for the product.

According to Mr V. K. Mathews, Chairman and Managing Director of IBS, WestJet would be investing $20 million in implementing the software. Out of this, $8-10 million would be the licence fee for the software, to be shared between IBS and Cendant.

"This is a very important milestone in the business life of aiRES," Mr Mathews said. The software, being developed at an investment of $40 million, is a key product on which IBS is betting for its future growth.
