TI Cycles to sponsor events

Our Bureau

CHENNAI: TI Cycles, whose Hercules brand is the title sponsor for the country's first-ever mountain biking race, is looking at associating with events that seek to promote cycling as a sport or recreation.

The sponsorship of the Hercules MTB Himachal championship, which started on Thursday, is part of a broader strategy to prop up the bicycle market on the plank of a healthy lifestyle, said Mr G. Ramprasad, President of TI Cycles. Last year, the company held a cycle rally in Chennai and has been regularly conducting biking trails in Bangalore.

However, rather than have an immediate effect, such events slowly but surely change the public perception about cycling, he said.

Over 60 amateur and professional riders are participating in the 480-km race, which will conclude on October 14.
