Govt bans Free X-TV

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI: After banning channels such as Ren TV for airing objectionable content, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has prohibited the transmission of Free X-TV in the country.

This is because the channel has been "telecasting programmes that are against good taste or decency and are likely to adversely affect public morality," said an official release.

An order prohibiting transmission or retransmission of the above television channel has been issued and has been forwarded to India Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) and all cable operators and MSOs.

It had come to the notice of the Central Government that some cable operators were transmitting this channel.
