The Hindu Business Line : IBS opens software centre in Info Park

The Chief Minister said on the occasion that the State Government would sign the agreement with Dubai Internet City to set up the Smart City project in Kochi by early next year. He said that efforts would be made to make the final agreement as transparent as possible. It may be recalled that an MoU in this regard had been signed last month.

According to him, the State has to go a long way to catch up with the progress made by neighbouring States in the IT sector. There has been a tremendous response from investors to set up projects in the State and the Government is committed to provide maximum support for the growth of the IT sector, he added.

Mr V.K. Mathews, Chairman and Managing Director, IBS Software Services, said that the company had made significant progress in the travel, transportation and logistics (TTL) domain and is planning to close the financial year with contracts worth $50 million (April-March 2005).

Established at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram in 1997, he said IBS had grown over the years to become a leading IT solutions provider. The move to Kochi amply demonstrates the company's commitment to the State, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr P.H. Kurien, IT Secretary, said IBS had already acquired five acres of land at Thiruvananthapuram to set up its own independent software development centre and a similar facility was envisaged at Infopark, Kochi, also.

He predicted that Kochi would be the `hottest' destination in the country within two to three years after signing the agreement with the DIC.

The State, he said is receiving enquiries from many BPO and IT companies to set up units here soon after the MoU with the DIC was signed.
