Covering groups sustain rubber prices

PHYSICAL rubber prices improved on Monday. The covering groups turned active once again offering better quotes. Steady demand and low supply kept the prices firm though the market sources expect an improvement in arrivals. Sheet rubber RSS 4 moved up to Rs 63.75 and Rs 64 a kg from Rs 63.50 and Rs 63.25 at Kottayam and Kochi respectively.

The NMCE rubber futures improved sharply with October contract quoting at Rs 64.65 (Rs 63.57), November at Rs 63.40 (Rs 62.46), December at Rs 62.95 (Rs 62) and January at Rs 63.31 (Rs 62.42) per kg for RSS 4.

In MCX, (Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd), the October contract for RSS 4 was quoted at Rs 64.60.

November futures for RSS 3 improved to 194.4 yen against 189.9 yen a kg at TOCOM .The Monday rubber prices were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 63.75 (Rs 63.50), RSS-5: Rs 62.50 (Rs 62), ungraded: Rs 60.50 (Rs 60), ISNR 20: Rs 62.50 (Rs 62.50) and latex 60%: Rs 42.50 (Rs 42).
