Chennai , Sept. 29 HAVELL'S India Ltd is likely to merge its wholly owned subsidiary, Crabtree India, with itself. Confirming this to Business Line, a highly placed source at Havell's said the board of directors would meet next month to consider the move.
The merger would mean a 10 per cent addition to Havell's topline. Havell's India ended last year with a topline of Rs 665 crore. Company officials today said Crabtree India's turnover was close to Rs 65 crore. Crabtree India manufactures a range of electrical fittings circuit breakers, modular switches, wiring accessories, and bathroom fittings. Meanwhile, Mr D.K. Gupta, Assistant General Manager - Sales & Marketing, Havell's India, today said at a press conference here that the company expected its turnover to increase to Rs 1,000 crore this year. Havell's range of products includes building electrical circuit protection, industrial and domestic switchgear, cables and wires, fans, compact fluorescent lamps, luminaries, bath fittings and modular switches. The company would invest Rs 15 crore in a ceiling fan plant at Haridwar, which would increase its fan-making capacity to 2 million units, from 1.2 million at present. He said that it would focus on the Tamil Nadu market, where it expects to grow its sales from about Rs 75 crore at present to Rs 200 crore in three years. The company is looking for acquisitions in China, officials said.
