New Delhi , Sept. 29

THE Ministry of Small Scale Industries has suggested several amendments to Small and Medium Enterprises Development Bill on the basis of the recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Secretary, Small Scale, Agro and Rural Industries, Mr Anupam Dasgupta, said that among the suggestions that had been accepted was that micro enterprises should also be defined in the Bill along with the small and medium enterprises.

"Besides, the Committee has also recommended that the delayed payment provisions should be made more stringent and the national small and medium board become more representative," he said. The amendments suggested by the Ministry are being considered by a Group of Ministers headed by the Defence Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee.
