Outsourcing Tata Teleservices inks Rs 1,000-cr outsourcing deal with TCS Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 28 TATA Teleservices on Wednesday announced strategic outsourcing of its entire IT infrastructure management to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). "TCS will manage the IT infrastructure of Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) and Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd in a deal, which is estimated at over Rs 1,000 crore ($250 million) over 5 years," an official statement said. According to it, the partnership with TCS will provide a comprehensive IT roadmap for TTSL with a modern infrastructure to support existing and new business initiatives while delivering high quality service. The key technology differentiator will be a robust, technologically scaled infrastructure and systems capable of servicing the needs of TTSL's customers. The scope of the engagement includes management of all IT-related activities including implementation, application development and maintenance as well as change management across the enterprise. In addition, management of data centres, information security management, training end-users on new applications, disaster recovery and business continuity will also be the responsibility of TCS as part of the strategic engagement. TCS will deploy an IT framework offering TTSL the flexibility to introduce the latest in voice, data and content-based services to its customers. The scalable, adaptable IT infrastructure will allow Tata Teleservices to quickly respond to changes in technology to enhance customer experience, the statement said. It may be recalled that some time ago, Bharti, another big player in the domestic telecom sector, had entered into a similar outsourcing arrangement with IBM.
