IIM-A students get attractive placements

Our Bureau

Ahmedabad , Sept. 28

STUDENTS of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad have reaped in a rich haul of pre-placement offers following their summer placements and 38 have already received jobs.

According to an IIM-A press release, all the students who interned with leading investment banks such as Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers and HSBC, have landed jobs after their summer training. In addition to the 38 students already placed, 28 of them abroad, another 17 have received interview calls half a year ahead of completing their course.

Deutsche Bank, London and New York, made analyst position offers to all the six interns it picked up in the November 2004 internship recruitment process. So did Lehman Brothers, London, and HSBC, London, making offers to all the three interns each and Barclays Bank, Singapore, which offered Associate positions to both the interns, the release said.

"Students executed assignments and were involved in live projects in all the major financial markets - London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo - this summer. This is clearly an indication of the corporate world's acknowledgement of the quality and diversity of IIM Ahmedabad's student body," according to Prof P. K Sinha, Chairman of the Placement Committee.
