Rubber Rubber unchanged in dull trading Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Sept. 23 THE rubber prices turned almost steady on Friday. Trading activities remained subdued lacking quantity sellers while major buyers also preferred to keep a low profile. The only gainer of the day was ungraded rubber which improved by 50 paise on strong enquiries from the non-tyre sector. The market indicator sheet rubber closed unchanged at Rs 61 at Kottayam but it improved by 25 paise to Rs 61.25 a kg at Kochi. According to reports, overnight rains continued to disrupt tapping in certain plantation areas creating unexpected short supply. The NMCE rubber futures maintained the firm trend though TOCOM was closed on Friday. The October contract was traded at Rs 61.60 (Rs 61.30), November at Rs 60 (Rs 59.71), December at Rs 60 (Rs 59.61) and January at Rs 60.10 (Rs 59.78) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes till 1.30 p.m. totalled at 814 lots registering 517 lots in October, 105 in November, 146 in December and 46 lots in January. In the international scene, RSS-3 spot closed flat at Rs 75.44 kg at Bangkok. The physical rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 61 (Rs 61), RSS-5: Rs 59 (Rs 59), Ungraded: Rs 56.50 (Rs 56), ISNR-20: Rs 60 (Rs 60) and Latex 60%: Rs 40 (Rs 40).
