PNB launches Web site for farmers

New Delhi , Sept. 20

PUNJAB National Bank (PNB) has launched a Web site — — to cater to the specific needs of farmers. The Web site provides information relating to the crops such as foodgrains, vegetables, fruits, pulses, oilseeds, spices, cash crops, medicinal and aromatic plants, aquaculture, floriculture and pesticide.

Besides this, the basic information on crops, including season for cultivation, area of cultivation, soil, rotation cultivation, seed and sowing, water management, fertiliser management, harvesting, weed management, disease management, varieties and varietal improvement, latest developments in production improvement, pest management, crop protection and hybrid varieties is also available.

The Web site also provides update and online details about the prices of agro products prevailing in various mandis and the prices in the wholesale market on day-to-day basis.

For easy access to the information available in the Web site, touch-screen kiosks have also been installed at the bank's farmers' training centres and agro centres.
