The growing interest
A WIDE range of companies, private and public sector, and NGOs are interested in biofuel related projects particularly, jatropha cultivation.
Here is a sample list of some companies that have evinced interest in biofuels.
D1 Mohan Bio Oils Ltd a joint venture between D1 Oils, UK, and the Chennai-based Mohan Breweries.
Southern Online Biotechnologies Ltd, Hyderabad.
Team Sustain This Kochi-based company plans to set up a 30,000-litre-a-day biodiesel plant in association with Biodiesel Industries of the US.
Naturol BioEnergy Ltd a joint venture with Energea GmbH, Austria, plans to get into Jatropha cultivation and set up a biodiesel plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
Emami Group To diversify into jatropha cultivation.
Indian Oil Corporation.
Reliance Industries Ltd.
Indian Railways It is exploring opportunities to use its land for jatropha cultivation.
Ahimsa This NGO is planning jatropha cultivation.
Bannari Amman Sugars This Coimbatore-based company is considering a jatropha project.
Gujarat Oleo Chem Ltd It has supplied castor oil-based biodiesel to IOC.
Praj Industries It produces ethanol from molasses and has plans to produce ethanol from corn and maize also.
