Hyderabad , Sept. 18 THE TCS IT Wiz, an inter-school information technology quiz programme for schools conducted by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) here on Sunday, received good response with over a 1,000 students participating in it. The event was sponsored by The Hindu Business Line, which was also the media partner for the IT quiz. After a five-round battle of brains, nerves and intense quizzing, Mr A.G. Balakrishna and Mr M. Srujan of Little Flower High School won the Hyderabad edition of TCS IT Wiz-2005 trophy, the company said in a press release. Apart from walking away with the coveted trophy, they also won a host of prizes including one-year subscription from The Hindu Business Line, an iPod, DVDs, return air tickets by JET Airways to any metro city, travel bags, Jordan racing binoculars endorsed by Mr Narian Kartikeyan, de Bono CDs, a collectors' edition of `Horizons' from the TATA Group autographed by the TCS CEO, Mr S. Ramadorai, stay at Taj Hotel in Visakhapatnam, Fastrack watch, gift vouchers from Westside, GEM mobile phones from TATA Indicom and handsets from Idea Cellular among others. TCS had launched the country's first ever inter-school information technology quiz for schools in 1999 in Bangalore with a view to promoting IT awareness and encouraging young talent. The event branded as `TCS IT Wiz' has been extended this year to other cities in India including Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker, Mr K.R. Suresh Reddy, gave away the trophy and prizes to the winners, the release said.
