Announcements Marketing - Retailing ONGC plans more retail prototypes Our Bureau
Mangalore , Sept. 16 OIL and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ltd, which opened its first retail outlet in the country in March this year, is planning to open more two such prototypes, said Mr Subir Raha, ONGC Chairman. "Based on the experiences of these three prototypes, we have to standardise the design," Mr Raha said. After this, the retail outlets will be rolled out in a much bigger scale. "At this point, we are engaged in developing prototypes," he said. Sources in the company said that the MRPL branded retail outlets might come up in 2006-07. Mangalore SEZ Asked about ONGC's plans for investments in Mangalore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project, Mr Raha said that the Ministry had sought some clarifications from the company. After studying the letter, the company has sought some clarifications from the Ministry, he said. Earlier at the company's AGM he said MRPL (a subsidiary of ONGC) has been nominated by the Union Government as the implementation agency for several major projects, including Mangalore SEZ and Mangalore LNG complex. Mr Raha said that MRPL is also planning bunkering facility at New Mangalore Port. Bunker fuel facilities are also planned at Mundra, he said. Asked if the ONGC would acquire the stake of HPCL in MRPL, he said, "At this point of time, there is no proposal on that."
