The Soochippara Waterfall near Meppadi in Wayanad district is an untapped treasure of nature tucked in forestland. The Tourism Department is now making efforts to increase the connectivity to the place by improving the roads. A convenient hop away from cities such as Bangalore, Kozhikode and Kochi, Wayanad is a perfect weekend getaway.

Still uncrowded, clean and friendly, the district offers a host of options. Tourist arrivals in Wayanad have gone up to 5 lakh plus in 2004-05 from 3 lakh plus in the previous year with domestic tourists accounting for bulk of the arrivals.
