Lupin looking for local acquisition

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Sept. 2

Lupin is looking at candidates for acquisition locally, said Mr Sakti Chakraborty, Lupin's President - India Region Formulations.

Unwilling to divulge details on what would be the size of the acquisition that the company was looking at, he told Business Line that the brand or business should have a "fit or synergy" with Lupin's existing business.

This comes even as Lupin seeks to strengthen its position in the US through a global acquisition or alliance in the paediatric segment.

About Rs 500 crore of the company's total sales of an estimated Rs 1,200 crore is from the finished dosage forms of medicine or the formulations business, he said.
