Strategy Ozone Ayurvedics plans facility in UK Our Bureau
New Delhi , Sept. 2 OZONE Ayurvedics, known for its skincare brand Nomarks, announced its overseas foray on Friday, by setting up a manufacturing facility in the UK at an investment of Rs 1.5 crore. The company will also launch a premium range of skincare products under the brand Ozone's, which will be premiered in the UK. It will invest Rs 2.5 crore to enter the skin-care market there with a product portfolio that will include natural soaps and oils. According to the company, the time is now ripe for such an international initiative as there is a high demand for skin-care products in the global market. The global skincare market is valued at Rs 1.6 lakh crore a year, while that of the UK is over Rs 6,248 crore. After the success of its Nomarks brand, Ozone Ayurvedics has forayed into the brand Ozone's with a diverse range of products that includes bath gel, natural bath soaps, hair cleansers and hair conditioner. The bath soaps will be made with essential oils extracted from flowers, leaf stems, herbs and fruits and will come in variants such as Lime Loofah, Mint and Cucumber. "We test-marketed our products in the UK and generated sales worth Rs 8 million. This will be our first step into the global skin-care market and will follow the same product innovation strategy. Through our international operations, we target Rs 16 crore, which will contribute about 20 per cent to our turnover," said Mr S.C. Sehgal, Managing Director, Ozone Ayurvedics. The company has tied up with Colorama Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a UK distributor, which caters to over 8,000 outlets. On the company's marketing strategy, Mr Sanjay Khosla, Chief Co-ordinating Officer, International Operations, said, "To create a significant market presence, our products will be made available at convenient mass-market outlets. We have, therefore, identified two market-entry formats: distribution through pharmacies and distribution and selling support services across pharmacies and natural food stores." For manufacturing in the UK, the herbs will be procured, in the extracts form, from India, while other requirements will be met locally. The company says the new facility will also help in catering to markets in the European Union, West Asia, Russia, the US and Canada. Currently, the company exports its Nomarks range of products to the UK, Malaysia, UAE, Myanmar and Sri Lanka, among others. Last fiscal it clocked overseas sales of Rs 5 crore.
