Bangalore , Sept. 1

AFTER the recent buy of Citicorp holdings, which accounts for 61 per cent stake in the financial product company, Oracle Corp has indicated that it might completely take over i-flex Solutions.

Mr John Wookey, Senior Vice-President, (Applications Development), Oracle Corporation, said in a press conference that "there is always a possibility".

The California-based Oracle Corp has reported a growth of 80 per cent in new applications licence revenues in the last quarter of FY05, and 46 per cent for the full year. In APAC, application revenues grew up to 272 per cent (excluding Japan).

Oracle India Pvt Ltd has charted an aggressive growth plan to rapidly expand its presence in India with the "Emerald India" initiative for mid-market companies. Oracle's product for small, local companies, the E-Business Suite Special Edition (EBS SE) has seen a 120 per cent growth. Oracle Fusion for SAP, or "OFF SAP" is the new programme that is being offered to SAP R/3 customers as an alternative to the E-Business Suite. Launched last month, 31 per cent of its respondents are from Asia Pacific.

According to Mr Wookey, Oracle's applications development strategy for this year includes three main trends. The first is "Business inside" — an emerging idea that suggests a change in architecture to support the concept of the business. The second trend is going the middleware way, while the third is making all applications standards-based.
