Bangalore , Aug. 30

GE Healthcare Technologies, which expects to double its Asia revenues to $800 million in three years, expects growth to be led by its India-centric solutions and products.

"The bulk of our revenues are from India, including exports and that will increase,'' said Mr V. Raja, President and CEO, GE Healthcare Technologies, South Asia. The company, which launched a high frequency X-ray system, designed and manufactured in India, said it plans to introduce affordable ultrasound machines as well as low-cost ECG machines that are easier to use and portable compared to the ones in the market.

"We are creating new segments with the type of products that we have designed and made for the Indian market and expect to not only address the existing segment of users but also new ones,'' said Mr Raja. GE's John F. Welch Technology Centre in Bangalore designed and developed India-specific products and these devices were also made in India although export of these devices to developing markets was a possibility, Mr Raja said.

GE Healthcare, which has had two hospitals running the machines on a trial basis, says the machines are priced competitively for the features, power, frequency and throughput offered. "Importantly they reduce the radiation dose required as well as giver sharper images,'' he said.
