Union Bank CMD is IIBF's new head

Mumbai , Aug. 28

MR Cherian Varghese, Chairman and Managing Director, Union Bank of India, has been elected as the President of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) at its annual general meeting, said a press release from the bank.

As part of its growth plans, IIBF is negotiating with Asian Bankers of Singapore to provide a platform for bankers in the Asia-Pacific region to share their experiences and learn best practices in banking, finance and information technology.

The institute is planning to set up a regional knowledge forum for SAARC countries. IIBF has also been asked to help set up a similar institution in Mauritius.
