Our Bureau

New Delhi , Aug. 28

GAIL (India) Ltd proposes to involve TV channel National Geographic and also non-governmental organisations to sensitise the public about the endangered species of Olive Ridley Turtles.

It plans to produce a documentary film on Olive Ridley Turtles. The documentary would be used to educate and sensitise fishermen living in that area on turtle exclusion methods, Mr Proshanto Banerjee, GAIL Chairman and Managing Director, said. The company is also planning to rope in NGOs for the activity, he said.

Apart from this, GAIL has offered to sponsor a study by Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) on the impact of drilling activities on Olive Ridley Turtles.
