Airlines Air Deccan completes 2 years Our Bureau
Bangalore , Aug. 27 AIR Deccan completed two years of operations on Saturday. Starting with one aircraft flying between Bangalore and Hubli, "today, we fly to 35 destinations, operate 120 flights a day, have a fleet of 17 aircraft and have flown two million passengers," the budget airline said. In the two years of its existence, Air Deccan said it had connected unconnected destinations such as Hubli, Belgaum, Nashik, Gwalior and Dehradun; brought down airfares and got the other airlines to drop their fares too; it had innovated distribution by launching e-ticketing and opened up HPCL and Reliance Web World outlets to sell air tickets. The Air Deccan Managing Director, Capt. G.R. Gopinath, said, "We have a long way to go. I believe there are one billion Indians who should be able to fly. Next year, we will take delivery of another 12 brand new aircraft which will enable us to add 100 flights to our schedule."
