New Mangalore Port begins handling peas cargoes

THE New Mangalore Port has begun handling new cargoes such as yellow peas and green peas at its premises.

A press release by New Mangalore Port Trust on Monday said that M.V. Kang Fu called at the port to discharge 6,166 tonnes of yellow peas and 1,000 tonnes of green peas from Vancour of Canada. The cargo is meant for distribution in Bangalore, Belgaum, Salem, Tuticorin and Chennai.

The port, which is handling yellow peas for the first time, is extending all facilities for the smooth and speedy movement of the cargo for the benefit of its customers, the release said.

Welcoming the movement of new cargoes through the port, the New Mangalore Port Chairman, Mr P. Tamil Vanan, requested all users to use the facilities available at the port.
