THE State Government and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to set up centre of excellence to promote quality education in the State.
The MoU was exchanged between the Secretary, IT&C Department, Ms K. Ratna Prabha, and the Vice-chairperson of the Aga Khan Foundation (India), Ms Hameeda Allana, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
The State Government has allotted 100 acres free of cost at Imarat Kancha in Raviryal Village of Maheshwaram Mandal, Ranga Reddy district for the centre.
The foundation is expected to set up a school of international standard within five years of receiving the land.
The centre is likely to include educational activities in some or all of the fields of primary, secondary and tertiary education, alongside undergraduate and post-graduate studies for students from all over the world.
It will also develop vocational courses, professional development courses for teachers, and offer residential facilities for students, faculty and other staff.
