Bangalore , Aug. 10

THE Indian aviation industry will be participating for the first time at the ninth Dubai air show to be held from November 20 to 24.

Seven hundred participants from 40 countries will take part in the show, which is jointly organised by the Dubai government's Department of Civil Aviation and the UAE Armed Forces. Seventeen participants from the industry and public R&D entities such as ISRO arm Antrix Corporation and NAL have confirmed their participation. About 20 participants from India will be represented under a national pavilion coordinated by SIATI (Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies & Industries).

While HAL is yet to confirm, the team will include component and equipment makers, aviation software companies, ground handling equipment companies, and the research body Aeronautical Development Establishment, SIATI President and former HAL Chairman, Dr C.G. Krishnadas Nair, told a news conference here.

The expo is a major buyers' show unlike the Paris, Farnborough, Singapore or Bangalore air shows that are primarily built around indigenous technologies, said Mr Clive Richardson, CEO of the organising body of Fairs & Exhibitions.
