Letters Mumbai rains
The Government of Maharashtra has let down the people of the State in its handling the chaos caused by the rains. The least that it could have done was to alert the people to the dangers of travelling back home on Tuesday. It has become clear that Mumbai cannot be administered by members of the IAS and the State civil service. It needs a modern metropolis managerial cadre that is trained to deal with such situations. It is not clear how much longer the citizens will have to pay the price for the administration's lack of professionalism. R. Sundaram
