Bajaj Auto sales up 5.4 pc in July

BAJAJ Auto Ltd (BAL) on Tuesday reported a 5.4 per cent rise in total 2&3-wheeler sales for July to 1,49,406 units from the previous corresponding 1,41,743 units.

This included an 11.5-per cent gain in motorcycle sales to 1,15,216 units (1,03,260 units for the year-ago period) and a 5.6 per cent increase in total sales of 2-wheelers to 1,26,821 units (1,20,092 units).

Three-wheeler sales for the period moved up by 4.3 per cent to 22,585 units (21,651 units). Exports for the month were, however, down 3.8 per cent to 14,698 units (15,279 units).

For the April-July period, BAL's total 2&3-wheeler sales was up 27.1 per cent to 6,54,378 units (5,14,733 units), including a 31.8 per cent growth in sale of 2-wheelers to 5,78,482 units (4,39,004 units).

Motorcycle sales were up 41.9 per cent to 5,37,759 units (3,79,046 units) and that of 3-wheelers, up 0.2 per cent to 75,896 units (75,729 units).

Exports for the period were down 0.2 per cent to 65,191 units (65,300 units). Heavy rains in Maharashtra took their toll on export dispatches leading to a drop in volumes. However, they are expected to recoup in August.
