VSNL Q1 net stagnant on higher expenditure

HIGHER operating expenses, salary costs, and tax provisioning nullified the 15 per cent revenue growth at VSNL, leading to flat growth in the company's net profit for the first quarter ended June 30.

Net profit was reported at Rs 127 crore (Rs 126.8 crore).

Net sales from operations amounted to Rs 915 crore (Rs 795 crore), while other income was Rs 29.1 crore (Rs 24.4 crore). Total expenditure rose by 17 per cent to touch Rs 668 crore (Rs 569 crore); expenditure under every head rose.
