DuPont India announces science contest to school students

DUPONT India has announced the launch of the fourth `DuPont India Challenge - 2005 Science Paper Contest'.

DuPont India Challenge is a nationwide science paper contest for Indian schools and this year is the fourth in the series that was launched in 2002 to celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of DuPont.

The contest invites students from class seven to nine (junior category) and class 10 to 10 + 2 (senior category) to submit science papers on relevant topics from five fields of emerging sciences — bioengineering, biotechnology, cloning, genetics and nutraceuticals. The last date for sending in entries is August 31. More than 400 schools have been invited to participate in the contest.

The evaluation of the entries will be done by an independent jury. The top three winners of each category of the contest will receive award certificates and prize money. The scholarship award prize money for the first, second and third place in each of the categories is Rs 12,000, Rs 9,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively. In addition to the top three winners, the top 15 entries in each topic in each category will be awarded certificates of recommendation. DuPont India is a subsidiary of the DuPont (USA). DuPont India markets a range of products in varied market segments like food and nutrition, health care, safety and protection, home and construction, electronics and transportation.
