Electronics Bharat Electronics Q1 net dips 2.6 pc Our Bureau
BANGALORE: Bharat Electronics Ltd posted a marginally lower net profit of Rs 56.59 crore for the first quarter of this fiscal. This was a 2.6 per cent dip over the net profit of Rs 58.14 crore it made during April-June 2004. Total income for the quarter dipped 20.3 per cent to Rs 508.94 crore, compared to Rs 639.31 crore for the same quarter of 2004. BEL said sales and production were expected to pick up in the coming quarters considering the orders in hand. The defence PSU made a profit before tax of Rs 85.21 crore (Rs 84.11 crore during the same quarter of 2004-05). Earnings per share was 7.07 compared to 7.27 of the same quarter last year. The company's total audited income for fiscal 2004-05 was Rs 3,334.37 crore. The figures do not include the numbers for the subsidiary BEL Optronic Devices Ltd and joint ventures GE-BE Pvt Ltd and BEL-Multitone Ltd.
