Marginal dip in crude oil production

THE country's crude oil production in the first quarter of the current fiscal saw a marginal drop to 8.426 million tonnes (mt) from 8.483 mt in the corresponding period previous year, according to a latest data released by the Petroleum Ministry.
Decline in offshore crude oil production was said to be the main cause for dip in production as it fell to 5.533 mt (5.607 mt).
However, onshore production of crude oil went up to 2.893 mt (2.876 mt).
Crude oil production in June has dropped 0.6 per cent at 2.783 mt against 2.830 mt.
Refinery production in terms of throughput during the first quarter also fell 4.9 per cent at 30.604 mt (32.183 mt).
Further, 17 public sector refineries operated at 100.6 per cent of their installed capacity in April and at 93.1 per cent in April-June period.
Private sector Reliance Industries operated its Jamnagar refinery at 104.4 per cent capacity to produce 2.832 million tonnes products in April and at 105.7 per cent capacity in April-June to produce 8.694 million tonnes products.
Natural gas production went up at 7,977 million cubic meters.
