Kochi, July 19 THE State-owned Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) is entering into the field of houseboat construction for the first time with the company bagging an order from a Karnataka Government undertaking. KSINC had received the order from the Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd, Bangalore, for the construction of the boat at a cost of Rs 37 lakh. The KSINC Managing Director, Mr K.N. The Corporation would soon submit the general arrangement drawings, structural drawings and other details as per technical specifications. The production of the boat would commence after receipt of the approval and the boat would be delivered within the stipulated period of five months from the date of issuing work order. Mr Satheesh said that the boat would be constructed at the Slipway Complex at Thoppumpady and the corporation would be able to deliver it ahead of schedule. Enquiries are also pouring in from various other firms in Karnataka for houseboats.
