Wigan & Leigh to launch courses for corporate houses

Kolkata , July 10

WIGAN & Leigh College India, an arm of the UK-based Wigan & Leigh College, will soon be launching a management programme for the domestic corporate houses.

According Mr Trevor Ashton, Head of International Operations, Wigan & Leigh College, the Indian wing has already established good relations with several corporate houses.

"We are ready to arrange management training programmes for the corporates. It would be tailored to suit the needs of the respective corporate houses and their executives," Mr Ashton told Business Line, recently.

Subsequently, the college would also take up management projects for the corporate houses, if commissioned. "It may take some time but we would be undertaking such projects in future," he said.

In another significant development, the British college has decided to allow its Indian wing to set up campuses in other destinations. Mr Vinay Pasricha, director of Wigan & Leigh India, is the franchisee holder of this country.

"Our Indian college is interested in setting up outlets in West Asia and South East Asia, South Africa and Sri Lanka. Similar campuses might be opened in other African nations too," he said.

At present, Wigan & Leigh College has ten campuses in India, spread over cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Indore, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Chennai.

"We are planning to open more campuses, and are working to increase the number to 15. Ideally, we would like to have 20 campuses in India. However, as the investment would be made by the Indian franchisee, the expansion would depend strictly on his investment plans," Mr Ashton said.
