Outlook BT Infonet bullish on India Vishwanath Kulkarni
Bangalore July 10 , BT Infonet, a provider managed network communication services, is bullish on the Indian market. The company sees an increase in its business with more Indian firms expanding their global footprints. The Indian market is also attracting more multinationals, creating the need for greater managed network services. Mr Ross Goodfellow, Regional Director - Asia Pacific, BT Infonet said "A sustained and increased interest in offshoring by global firms coupled with India's emergence as a major provider of IT and Itenabled services is driving our business here". For BT Infonet, India has emerged as the fastest growing markets among others, he added. BT Infonet, which has domestic licence for virtual private network with five nodal points in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad at present, plans to expand its network in India to tap the B class cities where the industry is expanding. "We see a great potential as these companies move their operations to Tier II cities," Mr Rossfellow said. "We have seen a five-fold increase in demand for the bandwidth over the last two years" said Mr J.R.B Samuel, Country Manager, BT Infonet India, adding the company planned to increase its international bandwidth capacity within a year. "A number of Indian companies are migrating from their legacy network of leased lines to the MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) networks as it is scalable and cost-effective," Mr Samuel said. BT Infonet has close to 200 customers in India, which include software and BPO firms, other Indian corporates with global operations and also the MNCs operating in India. BT Infonet's suite of communications services include IP-VPN Secure, IP-VPN Internet, IP Voice and IP Video VPN services, and call centre solutions among others.
