The Hindu Business Line : Pricol in pact with Shafi

PRICOL Technologies Ltd has entered into a strategic tie-up with the Michigan-based Shafi Inc to provide vision guided robotics (VGR) software solutions for a wide range of manufacturing operations.

The President and Chief Operations Officer of Pricol Technologies, Mr A.S. Ramaseshan, explained that VGR solutions help replace the human eye with camera. "It can be difficult for a human being (worker) to sight fault in a continuous process due to the fatigue factor. A camera embedded in the system screens the process and rectifies the defects, if any, immediately" he told Business Line.

Shafi has enabled more than 60 kinds of vision-guided solutions with 15 robot companies using Cognex Vision Systems.

The present agreement between Shafi and Pricol Technologies is said to be an exclusive one. Pricol Technologies would, according to Mr Ramaseshan, operate as the systems integrator for the range of services offered by Shafi in India.

The road show to popularise vision-guided solution has just started. Pricol Technologies would focus on original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-I companies initially, he said and added that the response to the show at Bangalore was phenomenal.
