eBay wooing small businesses

WHAT does Mr A. Karthik Raja, a college student who sells more than a 1,000 electronic items, have in common with Ms Shalini Vohra, a specialist in designer salwar suits and lehnga saris.

They both sell on the Net using eBay, a 100 per cent subsidiary of eBay.com.Their customers are not just from India but from all over the world.

Mr Samarjeet Singh, Head, eBay Academy, said that a series of seminars have been organised at all the major cities to highlight the entrepreneurship platform that eBay India offers to local sellers to reach out to millions of buyers both nationally and internationally.

Mr Singh said that in addition to starting a business with no investment, this business could be run from home, office or even a cyber café. He said that these seminars have helped over 10,000 potential users understand the power of e-commerce followed by a step-by-step guide to help them start their business on eBay.
