Software Microsoft R&D centre doing key jobs on DSI project V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , June 30 DEVELOPERS at the Microsoft India Research and Development Centre (MIDC) based in Hyderabad are working on Microsoft's Dynamic System Initiative (DSI) project that seeks to provide an integrated enterprise management system. The company expects to launch a series of products, including Visual Studio later this year. Of the various elements of this initiative, conceptualised a couple of years ago, two strategic projects and two-thirds of the global support work are being handled out of the Indian centre. Mr Kirill Tatarinov, Microsoft's Corporate Vice-President, on a visit to MIDC, told Business Line that the MIDC was working on System Centre Data Protection Management (SCDPM) that would help rapid back-up and Windows Management Instrumentation. Interestingly, over 100,000 downloads have already been recorded. Mr Tatarinov, who grew up in Moscow, and went on to work in the US and named by Computerworld as one of the business world's 2002 Premier 100 IT leaders, said as enterprises seek to extract more out of their investment, an integrated management would help them address this problem more cost effectively. With DSI, Microsoft aims to enhance the Windows platform and deliver a co-ordinated set of solutions that simplify and automate how businesses design, deploy and operate distributed systems.
