NTPC to submit plan for Lanka power station

New Delhi , June 27

NTPC today said that it plans to set up a 900 MW coal or LNG-based power plant in Sri Lanka.

The Rs 26,000-crore company will submit a proposal to the Sri Lankan Government to set up the project either on a build, own, operate or on a build, own, operate and transfer basis, the company told the BSE.

The utility will also set up a joint venture company with Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) to operate the 220 MW Muzzaffarpur thermal power station. The company will sign a MoU with the Bihar Government and the BSEB for transfer of the 2x110 MW plant at Kanti in Muzaffarpur to the new company.
